Forget fighting over the vintage record collection, or Aunt Betty’s prized bauble. A Long Island surgeon embroiled in a nearly four-year divorce proceeding wants his estranged wife to return the kidney he donated to her, although he says he’ll settle for $1.5 million in compensation.

This is by far the most outrageous story I’ve ever heard.  I was in the kitchen cooking dinner with the television turned on to the news channel.  Out of nowhere they  announce that a man by the name of Dr. Richard Batista a surgeon at Nassau University Medical Center is demanding his estranged wife return his donated kidney or pay him $1.5 million.  Apparently she was cheating on him and of course that didn’t come out until after he gave her his kidney.  Per Dr. Batista he didn’t give her his kidney so that she could cheat on him with another man.  Wow that’s some serious domestic dispute and after reading the story is starting to become quit funny to me.  I mean really this man wants to have his kidney that saved his wife live returned just because things didn’t work out between them.  I can understand being upset and hurt because you may still be in love with a person, and hurts to find out that they are no longer in love with you.  But don’t you think asking for your kidney back is a little over the top.  I mean you loved her enough to save her life by going under the knife your self.  I honestly think just asking for the $1.5 million is way more than enough compensation for a kidney.  I’m wondering if she doesn’t have the money to pay him and is ordered by the courts to return his kidney would that be attempt of murder?  I mean really she needed the kidney in the first place to live giving it back would be suicide.  Okay I’m sure they would allow her time to find another donor I hope.
